In order to decrease our debt, the wife and I have decided having 2 new cars isn’t the greatest use of our income.

As such, I’ve found someone to take over my Fusion Sport lease and have been searching for a used car. I still want something quick, and large enough for my tall wife, car seats, our dog, and our random stuff. Bonus points for quick, decent on gas, and more premium than bargain basement. I’ve found a nice 328d wagon in the Dallas area, but would love to have someone check it out in person to give me real life input. So, anyone in th DFW area that could help me out? I could Square Cash, PayPal, ApplePay, etc for your time and gas!

Bonus points for anyone that could also run a VIN and/or has an auto transport hookup if I decide to purchase.

Cheers!

if you’re looking to save money... dont get a bimmer

if you want quick and wagon... get a 300

if you want reliable and wagon... get a volvo

The only thing about Subarus is you need to make sure that all of the engine + general powertrain maintenance is done.

This means making sure you’ve got a fresh belt, fresh head gaskets, etc.

Sell both cars. Buy a Bicycle for the wife. Get a used Ford Courier. Plenty of room in the back for your dog, car seats, and wife. Look at the money you will save. You’re welcome.

Having driven multiple F30 series BMWs let me tell you that the 328D is not fast it just feels fast becuause of the low down torque. The N20 and tue B48 2.ot gas engines are genuinely fast and are underrated on power by BMW

If you can drive a few hours check out this one in tulsa OK. But its vroom and they are based in Dallas. Could have opened in Tulsa i donno.

2014 BMW 328i xDrive

there are several more under 28K in the kansas city area all under 45K miles. What is your budget.

Hello. I am a dumb car person looking around for help and just parachuting in here, forgive me. My 2008 Jetta is dying and I need the assistance of car people. I know how to remove an appendix but I barely know what makes a car run. Let’s not say any more about the level of car idiocy I’m working with. My kind, decent mechanic just explains to me what horrible things have happened to each part as it fails. The brakes started smoking in a small town in Vermont and a heart-of-gold Harley rider assisted me in hitting it with a mallet. The last insult was the cracked radiator, which really put me on notice. I need to have a plan for what to do when this poor car really kicks the bucket, and no one in my life has an iota more of car intelligence than I do. I ended up with a gently used Jetta 10 years ago because I tried out a bunch of sedans and hatchbacks for city life and I felt like I was driving a tinny hamster wheel around in most of them, and I felt like driving this thing was a solid experience if not exactly the lap of luxury. However, I’ve gotten more weekend-outdoorsy since then and I’m doing less intense parallel parking than I used to.

This is what I need: happy to buy used, under $20K (obviously I want a deal but I want the right car I can settle into and drive for another 10 years without excess fuss), I’d probably like to switch to a hatchback for more usefulness, needs to handle crummy dirt roads (the Jetta struggled a little on some rutted mountain roads in a state park) but not, like, hardcore offroading wildness, it needs heated seats and decent performance in a cold snowy winter climate - previously I’ve had snow tires. I don’t have kids that have to be maneuvered in and out but kids could theoretically enter my life while this car is still part of it.

Thank you for giving your time to an idiot.

We tried the one car life. With a kid, a nanny that occasionally needs to drive our kid somewhere, and the different work schedules for my wife and me, it just didn’t work.

The wife does look cute on a bike though.

Honestly, I would totally drive a minivan. Values just aren’t dropping fast enough for me.
